Roots Copper India Private Limited, trading as Roots Copper ("we", "us"), operates this website at rootscopper.in. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it, under India's Information Technology Act, 2000 and its associated rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).

What We Collect

To process your orders and run this store, we collect: your name, shipping and billing address, phone number, and email address; order and payment details (we do not store full card numbers — these are handled by our payment processor); and basic usage data such as pages visited and device/browser information, mainly through Shopify's own analytics.

Why We Collect It

We use this information to fulfil and ship your orders, process payments and refunds, respond to your enquiries, send order updates, and — only with your consent — send marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time. We do not use your personal data for any purpose beyond what it was collected for.

Who We Share It With

We share the minimum necessary data with: Shopify, our e-commerce platform provider; our courier and logistics partners, to deliver your order; our payment processor, to process payment; and our reviews provider, if you choose to leave a product review. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

Your Rights

Under the DPDPA, as our data protection obligations phase in, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct or update it, withdraw consent for marketing communications, and request erasure of your data where we're not legally required to keep it (for example, tax and order records must be retained for a statutory period). Data Retention

We keep order and transaction records for as long as required under Indian tax and commercial law. Marketing data is kept only until you unsubscribe or request deletion, whichever comes first.

Security

We take reasonable security practices and procedures, as contemplated under the IT Act and its rules, to protect your data — including relying on Shopify's PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure for payment handling. No online system is completely secure, and we recommend you don't share sensitive information with us over unsecured channels.
